In January, Advanced Optronics reached a significant milestone by securing an exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to its core intellectual property (IP), which was originally developed by co-founders, Dr. Jay Reddy and Dr. Maysam Chamanzar, during their tenure at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). This work was a culmination of Jay and Maysam’s track record of working together over the past 8 years to pioneer breakthroughs in the field of flexible implantable devices.
The development of this IP was made possible through the generous support of UPMC Enterprises, a leading healthcare innovation investor, via the Center for Machine Learning and Health through a grant titled “Smart Sensors for Evaluating and Improving Cochlear Implants”. This comprehensive IP portfolio encompasses the manufacturing, design, use, and software for our advanced sensors. This marks a pivotal step forward in our mission to revolutionize the accuracy of implantable medical device placement, starting with cochlear implants.
